(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, September 15, 2015 ) Camarillo, CA -- What a difference a vendor makes. This is what CEO Rebecca Carasco of FreshTek, a recently formed California based brand learned this summer.
"With the launch of our new brand, our focus was to outsource the construction of our website as we really wanted it to be an interactive experience for the viewer. Our goal was to achieve more than a landing page and we felt that with our limited experience in this area, that the standard templates offered by many website hosting companies would not allow us to be as creative as we wanted to be."
The company initially hired a programming and website design company out of India but this marriage was not one made in heaven. "Of course, the representatives for the company seemed knowledgeable, helpful, articulate and willing to work with us on our design concepts. One of the unique features of our site is rather than a static page that you scroll down, it actually has revolving images that overlay each other as the reader moves down the page. Whilst this was a slightly different approach to a standard site, everyone seemed to be on board and the first draft was available to us within a week or so."
However, the honeymoon period was soon over as the Indian company was soon failing to attend to the finer details. "Whilst we had no objections to them using other sites' as templates for ours, it did seem quite apparent that observing the finer points was not their strong suit. We saw labels, text and images pertaining to a bakery when our product was a fruit infused water bottle. We noticed major spelling errors and the erratic placement of text in no particular order."
After a few weeks of long distance calls late at night to adjust to the time difference, the parent company of FreshTek, UK Crew LLC decided to abandon ship and start again. With luck, they stumbled across an Australian company eager to partner with the brand and confident of their ability to deliver.
"Whilst the switching of companies stalled not necessarily our launch, but our final product, we are confident moving forward. The lesson learned is to stop flogging a dead horse, know when to switch vendors and better understand your own needs to convey moving forward."
