(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, June 03, 2015 ) London, UK -- Sales of the iPhone 6 are set to exceed 50 million for the second quarter of 2015, a figure 10% up on the previous prediction, it is being claimed. The remarkable surge in Apple's big smartphone demand is being predicted by financial services giant UBS whose Evidence Lab wing estimates that sales of the iPhone 6 will total 51.1 million units during Q2 2015. Street estimates had been more conservative with a prediction that sales would top "only" 45 million.
UBS claim that the boom in sales on the Chinese market has contributed to the iPhone 6's continued success. This is reflected in the fact that Apple has knocked Xiaomi off the top spot of bestselling smartphone companies in China. Apple's success is also claimed to have sparked an implosion of leading high-end Android rival Samsung's Chinese sales as they have plummeted by around a half during the past year.
Europe also continues to provide rich pickings for the iPhone according to consumer insight company Kantar Worldpanel as Apple continues its bid to persuade Android users to switch to iOS.
The continued success of the iPhone, especially iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus throws up the prospect of further rich pickings for accessory companies such as Boom which produces the Shock-2 Hybrid Protection Case for these larger models.
The Shock-2 case, currently available from Amazon in the UK, is what the company describes as a 'hybrid protectionn case". A combination of a soft shock absorbing TPU inner sleeve with a hard, shatterproof polycarbonate outer shell. This maximises protection and can save the user potentially expensive repair costs should the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus be knocked or dropped.
The future also looks bright for the Apple range of iPhones as Gene Munster, managing director and senior research analyst at investment bank and asset management firm Piper Jaffray believes that sales could top an astonishing 250 million units during 2016.
In an added positive note Munster also insists that the surge in sales is very much down to the iPhone 6 and despite Apple's record sales and profits there is still a tendency to underestimate the product's vast selling power.
