(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, May 30, 2015 ) Gulfport, MS -- JLM Security Products, a worldwide provider of innovative surveillance and security solutions, announces the upgrade of their MiniMag waterproof magnetic GPS tracker case and stash box. "We listen to our customers and have answered their requests" said Jeff Monson, owner of JLM Security Products, LLC.
"After two years of testing, we have finally released what we believe to be the best GPS tracking device magnetic mounted case on the market without having to drastically raise the cost. In fact, we lowered the price!" Jeff also said, "We are extremely excited about our upgrades to the product, and the positive feedback and product reviews are already rolling in from our customers."
The product is, to the lay consumer, a simple plastic box with a magnet attached to it. According to JLM Security, it's not the box itself that's important - it's the contents of the case. The entire shell of the case has been upgraded to a much stronger hardened ABS material that helps prevent the case from chipping or shattering in the event it gets dropped or mishandled. The design was also slightly changed to make the hinge assemblies on the lid and locking latch fit much tighter and more secure.
The biggest and most important upgrade is the magnet assembly. The previous case was equipped with a ferrite pot magnet with a manufacturer pull power rating of 35 pounds. This magnet was affixed to the case using a rivet. The problems with the ferrite magnet were that it was rather large, forcing users to install it without using the entire magnet. This reduced the pulling power of the magnet by the percentage of the magnet surface that was not used. The rivet was installed by inserting it through the hole in the center of the pot magnet housing and then through a hole in the plastic case. This was causing, over time, the magnet to break loose from the enclosure, and, in some cases, completely coming off.
The new upgrades to the MiniMag include replacing the ferrite pot magnet with a neodymium "Rare Earth" magnet. Neodymium magnets are, by nature, much stronger than ferrite magnets - about 10 times stronger. This allowed the size of the magnet pot to be reduced by 60%, while increasing the strength of the pulling force by nearly 200%. This opens up many more options for placement and the user being able to use the entire magnet. The rivet has been replaced by a custom machined washer, screw, and nut assembly that eliminated the rivet design problem. The machined washer assembly is located on the inside of the case, while the nut is on the outside, with the screw going through the magnet pot, then the threads are sealed tight with an epoxy sealant.
The MiniMag also comes with 2 pieces of polyurethane foam that can be used to cushion and hold GPS devices tight inside the case. Alternatively, they can be removed if the user is using it for storage of other contents, such as money, keys, jewelry, or other valuables.
The magnetic case feels very sturdy and quality in the workmanship is quite evident. Consumers can obtain a MiniMag on the JLM Security Products website and marketplaces, such as Amazon and eBay.
