(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, March 27, 2015 ) Sevierville, TN -- The Asia-Pacific region, home to nearly five billion people, presents as valuable market to the online gaming market especially in the next three years, according to industry observers. International Data Corporation (IDC), a provider of market intelligence and advisory services, estimates that the region will provide the global online gaming industry with revenues of up to $30 billion in 2018.
In 2013, the online gaming industry generated an estimated revenue of $12.9 billion. This represented a growth of 14 percent compared to the $11.34 billion recorded in 2012.
The company cites that the number of online gaming users in 2013 was placed at 240 million. It predicts that the said number will grow to more than 330 million in 2018.
More importantly, the firm says that the number of paying online gamers would jump to 150 million in 2018 from the 102 million recorded in 2013.
Key Drivers A major driver of the online gaming market growth in Asia Pacific is the increasing number of people who have access to the Internet as well as to affordable mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.
Another factor why the Asia Pacific region would continue to fuel the global online gaming market expansion is the steady demand for online gaming in three countries--China, Korea, and Taiwan.
According to IDC, these are the three countries that make up to 90 percent of the online gaming revenue in the region. China alone contributed 75 percent to the revenue of the online gaming market in 2013, with numbers estimated at $9.81 billion during that year. There are also other emerging markets in the region like India and Indonesia which are expected to further boost the online gaming industry in that part of the world.
Opportunities According to IDC, there are several opportunities for sustaining the growth of online gaming in the region. It believes that instead of introducing new titles, online companies should localize their games. It is also important for companies to offer games available across multiple mobile platforms that would appeal to diverse cultures in Asia.
The company also observes that companies that offer freemium services or games tend to fare better than those that offer subscription-fee based games. It says that online gaming companies would be able to attract more new gamers if they offer their games at no cost.
Novice gamers who are intrigued with online gaming are known to try websites where they can play casino games for free. Most of them would go to Free Gambling Slot (www.freegamblingslot.com) which lists down some of the best websites to gamble online for free.
Online gaming companies would have to count on advertising and in-app purchases as their primary means of earning in Asia, according to IDC.
With such huge potential for online gaming in the Asia Pacific region, online gaming companies are expected to continue flourishing this important market. Expect more titles and localized apps and games to be rolled out from these firms in the next 10 to 12 months.
